goal: cardiovascular fitness

The benefits of cardiovascular fitness are clear: a stronger heart, greater blood circulation and reduced risk of disease.

Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center offers many excellent ways for you to improve your cardiovascular fitness, including:

Cardiovascular Training Equipment

Our wide variety of cardio machines includes treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, stationary bikes, stair climbers and rowers. A degreed and/or certified fitness professional can provide initial and ongoing instruction on how to use the equipment to meet your goals. Most machines have an entertainment system, allowing you to watch your favorite TV show or sports game or use your iPod during your workout.

Cycle Classes

Led by a certified instructor, our Cycle classes are technique- or terrain-based and focus on cadence, heart rate zones, climbs and sprints. The intense cardio workouts simulate road cycling through the use of specialty-designed stationary bikes. We recommend using heart rate monitors for best results.

Group Exercise Classes

We offer more than 130 Group Exercise classes weekly for all fitness levels and ages. Some of our popular cardiovascular classes include Cycle, Body Combat, Body Step, Tred & Shed and Aqua Aerobics.

Indoor Track

We are one of the only clubs on the North Shore that has an indoor track, which is ideal for those who prefer not to use a treadmill. The track, 1/12th of a mile in length, is perfect for walking, jogging, running or interval training.

Lap Swimming

Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness by increasing your heart rate and stimulating muscle activity in the water. Our 25-meter pool provides the perfect opportunity to include lap swimming before or after your workout, or incorporate swimming as a cross-training element.
